Accessibility Information

The Building:

  • A video walkthrough of the building can be found below.

  • Portobello Town Hall has 6 steps at the main entrance of the building. Step-free wheelchair accessible access is available at the side of the building. The main hall in Portobello Town Hall where the festival will be taking place has step free access.

  • There is a wheelchair accessible bathroom in the venue. *The designated accessible toilet at Portobello Townhall is smaller than current UK accessible toilet regulations and may be unsuitable for some people. Below are the measurements:

    Door 1: 93 cm

    Door 2: 73 cm

Width of bathroom between sink and wall: 46 cm

Length between door and toilet:  115cm

There is a railing at either side of the toilet and a railing above the sink

  • There is no quiet space in the venue. There is a small garden to the right of the building (if you are facing the town hall). The garden is away from the street, it's grassy with concrete paving stones, a bench, plants and a tree. There are a number of benches outside the front of the Town Hall. Rosefield Park is roughly a 5 minute walk from the venue if you need a quieter moment away from the traffic of the main street.

Here are photos of the bathroom, the accessible ramp entrance and the Portobello Town Hall garden (click to enlarge):

Visual descriptions: the first picture shows a white bathroom with a sink, toilet, bins and railings. The second picture shows a concrete ramp with black railings. The third picture shows grass, trees, plants and paving stones.

  • There are disabled parking bays on the High Street outside Portobello Town Hall.

  • Lothian Bus nos 12, 19, 21, 26 and 49 all stop a few metres away from the Town Hall. Bus timetables can be accessed here.
